Over the past two weeks, our sales team has been on the road, participating in the 2025 Rail Industry Technology Roadshow in partnership with the Rail Forum. 

This unique event differed from our usual trade shows because, rather than waiting for customers to come to us, we took our products and innovations directly to them. From Doncaster to Derby, and Goole to Melksham, we showcased our cutting-edge PEPA-F™ filters at some of the leading industry sites: Hitachi Rail, Alstom, Siemens, and Knorr-Bremse. 

This was an exciting opportunity to bring our innovative HVAC air filtration technology directly to the heart of the rail industry. Our PEPA-F™ filters are designed to significantly improve air quality, offering superior filtration with minimal impact on existing HVAC systems.

Why Does PEPA-F™ Stand Out in the Rail Industry? 

The PEPA-F™ filter range is truly a game changer in air filtration. A high concentration of fine particles in the air poses a significant risk to public health. Our PEPA-F™ particulate filter captures particles smaller than 0.1 micron, achieving up to 50% efficiency at ePM1, protecting passengers from even the smallest particles. This supports both WHO guidelines and ASHRAE recommendations, offering a new level of safety for all who travel by train. 

In addition to the particulate filter, the PEPA-F™ pathogen filter captures and eliminates bacteria and viruses with the highest effectiveness, thanks to its special impregnation. The filter consists of a multi-layered, reticulated foam, including a double coating to prevent the transmission of pathogens. It features a pre-filter for larger particles, a second layer for finer particles, a first impregnation for fire and smoke protection, and a second impregnation using silver technology for pathogen elimination. 

The PEPA-F™ pathogen HVAC filter follows a two-step approach: it captures the carrier (e.g. water, dust, aerosol) of the pathogen, then eliminates it using silver technology. This comprehensive solution enhances air quality in public transportation, and its high-performance features are ideal for the demanding environments of rail transport.

The PEPA-F™ filter is designed with safety and durability in mind. All our filters come with various post-treatment options, including high flame-retardancy that complies with EN45545-2, ISO3795, and FMVSS302 standards. Furthermore, the filter media is engineered to resist a range of harsh conditions, including exposure to chemicals, solvents, UV light, temperature fluctuations, and aging.

Already implemented in over 16 countries, across both new and existing trains, PEPA-F™ is setting a new standard in clean air for the rail sector. We also offer bespoke sizes and various grades, ensuring we can meet the specific needs of each customer.
